Conversion tracking is one of those things that sounds technical but is actually really straightforward in terms of what it does. It tells you which of your ad clicks are turning into real business outcomes like phone calls, form submissions, purchases or whatever matters most to you. Without it you are spending money on advertising and having no reliable way of knowing whether its actually working.

Why It Matters

I have audited a lot of accounts over the years and conversion tracking issues are one of the most common problems I find. Some businesses do not have any tracking set up at all, which means they have no idea which campaigns or keywords are generating results. Others have tracking in place but its measuring the wrong things or double counting conversions, which makes the data unreliable and leads to bad decisions.

When your tracking is set up properly you can see exactly what is happening after someone clicks your ad. You can see which campaigns are driving real enquiries or sales, which keywords are worth the money and which ones are just eating your budget, and you can make informed decisions about where to spend more and where to cut back. Without that information you are essentially guessing.

I also test everything thoroughly once its in place. I do not just set it up and assume its working, I run through the entire process to confirm that conversions are being recorded properly, that the numbers add up, and that you can trust the data you are seeing in your reports.
